The presentation will explore the differences between early interceptive orthodontic treatment and comprehensive treatment at a later stage, including the types of developing malocclusions and dental problems where early assessment or intervention may be advantageous.
Key clinical signs and common orthodontic
conditions that should prompt referral will be discussed, together with guidance on when observation, early intervention or immediate referral may be appropriate.
By the end of the session, clinicians will have a clearer
understanding of what to look for, when to refer, and
what information to provide when making an orthodontic referral.
The overall aim is to support general dentists
in making timely and appropriate referrals, facilitating efficient orthodontic treatment and helping to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients.
