Why Early Orthodontic Treatment for Children Matters

Orthodontics isn’t just for teens – starting treatment early can help prevent more serious issues down the track. With timely intervention, our Specialist Orthodontists can guide jaw growth, create space for adult teeth, and correct developing problems before they become more complex.

Early treatment can save time, money, and set your child up for a healthier smile.

Why Early Orthodontic Treatment for Children Matters

When Should my Child First Visit an Orthodontist?

The Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO) recommends children have an orthodontic consultation around the age of 7. At this stage in a child’s development we can identify any potential orthodontic problems which may arise in the future.

Your child may not need to be treated at this age, but we can monitor the growth of your child’s teeth and begin treatment at the optimal time.

Did you know? You don't need a dentist referral to book a consultation.

Benefits of an
Early Consultation

At L&L Orthodontics we recommend booking an early consultation for your child around age 7. This allows our Specialist Orthodontists to:

  • Assess how their teeth and jaws are developing
  • Identify any early signs of orthodontic issues
  • Potentially reduce the need for more complex treatment later
  • Share helpful tips on caring for growing smiles
  • Help your child feel confident and comfortable in a clinic setting

Early visits are a great way to set your child up for a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles.
